How to take a DV lottery or passport photo with your phone

BrainDV takes you from a camera shot to a correctly sized DV, visa or passport photo file in five steps. Most of the work happens on your phone.

  1. Choose a photo profile

Pick what the photo is for, such as a Diversity Visa entry or a passport print. The profile sets the size, file limits and framing.

  2. Take the photo with guidance

The camera screen helps with distance, lighting and head position. You can also start from an existing photo.

  3. Review the checks

Technical checks run on your phone. A fail is shown only for problems that can be measured reliably, like wrong dimensions. Other results are warnings or unknown, with an explanation.

  4. Crop and preview

BrainDV crops your photo to the profile's framing using only your original pixels. If the photo cannot be cropped without adding pixels, it asks for a retake instead.

  5. Export the file

A completed export creates the final JPEG or print file. Exports use your included exports or a credit, as shown on the pricing page.

Privacy by design

No account is needed to explore, take photos, run checks or preview. Face landmarks are used in memory to position the crop and are not stored. BrainDV does not perform face recognition.

Optional AI advice

An optional advice feature can send your photo to OpenAI for written tips. It is off by default, asks for consent first, and is never part of the final checks.
